At a very tender age of 1 year he had to lose his mother as she was suffering from tuberculosis and his family did not have sufficient money for her treatment. His father was a farmer who used to cultivate vegetables and fruits in landlord’s land. He has 3 elder sisters and 2 elder brothers. His father earning was not enough for their livelihood so his eldest sister started working as a helper in others house. Later on his eldest sister got married and took care of his education. He was born and bought up with lot of difficulties and pain. A child without  a mother is so incomplete but again god was particularly very partial with  this poor lad. As he had to again under go a very bad time and this time was his father’s turn. He had to again loose his father at age of 16. Now he had become completely orphan. “My world had suddenly turned upside down and I felt like running away from my own house,” recalls Rajdeep. It was during that difficult period that Rajdeep  heard from Fr Mathew (Don Bosco School, Mirik) about a vocational training programme called Bosco Academy for Skills and Employment(BASE) being organized in the vicinity by Salesian  College,Siliguri. “I approached Rajdeep because he actually was a very needy boy. He had a burning desire to stand on his own feet and come out of the poverty,” says Miss Sahara(Retail Sales Trainer, Siliguri). Rajdeep  enrolled in the course and took the “Interest Inventory” check administered by his trainers. They counseled him that Retail Sales would be an appropriate domain for him to take up.
